FleeceAholic

Gorgeous covered Bond fleece from Gleason's Fine Woolies
I joined GFW Ravelry group and we are spinning and knitting a shawl with our Bond fleece.
Hubbert Farms had the two Gotland rams sheared last week. I am thrilled with the quality of their fleeces!! These Gotland fleeces will be sent to a Mill for yarn and roving. I am thinking silk and a special Alpaca blend..yum.
Kathy McConnell also won top prize with her champion alpaca Scotty too BTW :-)
Above is Sterling's fleece. Extremely lustrous and silky. He is the sire of my Lilly!
Sebastion's fleece. Dark ,crimpy and dense with a nice long staple. He is the sire of all the other beautiful lambies at Hubbert Farms. It's been a great year so far and I cannot wait to see the lamb's fleeces as they mature!!

The bond is lovely - I've had a hankerin' for one of those for years, but I have too much right now. If I sell some, maybe I can justify it!

The Gotland is nice looking, but being unfamiliar with them (other than the improvement program), I don't know how the fleece handles. It looks very lustrous, but is it soft? I'll have to check some out at Black Sheep Gathering in June!

Thanks for leaving a comment on my blog, about my roving...this is why I love my new carder, after I get the big drum filled I take a diz that was supplied with the carder and starting at one side I can pull all the fibre off as roving. I think this works because of the way the carding cloth is put on the drum. will get some pictures next time I am carding.

I bought a bond fleece at Maryland Fleece and Wool Show. A friend and I bought it together and sent it to be processed from the show. The processor left so much grease in it that it's not fun to spin - unfortunate. I try to spin a skein about once a year. I have a LOT left and it was only half a fleece. You won't get caught like I did - have the fun that I should have had but didn't!

Like the title of your post.
I have a love of Gotland too both the fibre and the look of the sheep.
It is easy to spin and has a medium loft. Enjoy.
You look like you have your hands full with all those lambs. Don't know how you have time for all the fiber stuff you achieve.
