My Favourite Fibre

Every year I get a chance to work with fresh cria fleece from Hubbert Farms. If you have been reading this blog for a while then you know there is nothing I luv more then an exquisitely fine cria on my combs. Speaking of combs....I luv my new Valkyries! They are so perfect for fine fibres and do a devine job with cria. This cria is an amazing apricoty colour and so lustrous it almost glows. Fortunately this fleece had been coated for part of the year and it's pretty clean.
When working with an alpaca fleece this fine (under 20 microns) I will not wash it before prepping unless it is very dusty. I might reconsider if I was using my electric drumcarder. Definitely laceweight material and perfect for an etheral shawl. My dark grey cria and qiviut is finally finished!
Friday afternoon I am driving to Port Hope to pick up something I have wanted for a long time.....I wrote about it when I first began this blog :-)

I'm so glad you put the little "hint" in because it made me go back through your blog all the way to the beginning - what a joy to look back at your fibery journey over the past few years. And congratulations on your new wheel :-)

I'm glad you like the Valkyrie's - I love mine, but of course have nothing to compare them to, so it's great to hear you say that you like them too! The cria looks heavenly!

Hi Jody,
New wheel? Hope to see pictures. Your fiber looks so soft and yummy! Love it.
